what is media

Media is the main means of mass communication of information through news platforms such as television, radio and newspapers. There are different ways to use media in an institution such as showing specific codes and conventions to target audience so they can understand the media text. The main aim of Media is to their target audience needs. Media can effect and influence people’s opinions especially children and the media has an important influence in society to determine what is the important events happening in the world today. Media can connect people all around the world together through social networking (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.) Certain media types can also persuade certain types of audiences for example, Dior shows a beautiful famous woman holding a bag. This makes the target audience want to aspire to be like her and the way they would be like her is if they by the bag.

Mass media is a form of communication to provide information to the target audience through TV, Magazines, and Radio etc.  Some sources were you get information from in the media is biased because it can be edited and set up by the source to get the public to believe a certain perception of something and may not be accurate. For example some newspapers will have an agenda such to favour the government and make them look good. This is called corporate bias because they usually only tell us good things or stories about certain people or things.
